Typecast

I was watching "The Captains". A William Shatner doc. about ....of course...the people who played The Captains of a ship in one of the Star Trek shows. I enjoyed it and the only Star Trek show I really watched was the first.

45 Years have passed and William Shatner is finally comfortable with the realization that his obit will read "Captain Kirk is Dead".

I can think of quite a few who will be remembered for ONE role.

Christopher Lee---Dracula

Boris Karlof---Frankenstein

what you got....or even name some who have managed to escape that "curse"

Also this dude. He's doomed.

Then there is Harry Potter of course.

And also quite a few from tv series such as Friends, Dexter.. etc.

A few guys who have made lucrative careers for themselves out of typecasting:

Samuel L. Jackson
Morgan Freeman
Hugh Grant

Others that havent faired so well:

Mark Hamill
Ralph Macchio
Sara Michelle Gellar

Harry Potter/ Daniel Radcliffe is an interesting one to watch I rekon... He seems to be doing his best to avoid any sort of negative typecasting. His next role is playing Allen Ginsberg and he's done a fair range of movies to date. Will be interesting to see in a few years, I can't imagine it being easy to shake the Harry Potter tag though.

I don't think Karloff was typecast as the Frankenstein monster- I think it's the other way around. The monster has been typecast as Karloff. When we think of the monster it's Karloff's image we think off, but Karloff went on to have a long career, not connected with his portrayal of the monster.

Great discussion topic, but this is really bothering me: Is that the real neverending?

...

I haven't seen Woman in Black yet but I've heard that some people had difficulty with the fact that it was "Harry Potter."

I think that Tom Felton (Malfoy) is probably typecast; from Harry Potter Villain to Ape Beater!

How 'bout Seth Rogan and Jona Hill?

To add to the list of people who did well with it:
Jack Nicholson

Yes, it's me... message me on FB if you want to confirm.

I don't think Nicholson's been typecast that much... I'd say Hopper was to a much greater degree.
