Engelsholm Castle – Denmark 2005:

Gadget Hackwrench awoke with a scream in her bed a foggy morning in December, and it was after she had one of her nightmares again.

Gadget lived with Chip, Dale, Monty and Zipper in the castle, who were build in 1593, and they educated high school students, as Fat Cat owned the castle.

Dale were sent to the war in Iraq since 2001, and Dale were Gadget’s husband, but Dale had been away for years without anybody hearing from him.

It was the 23rd December, and the Christmas vacation had started, and Gadget and her friends should spend Christmas Eve with their friends from Germany, who were Buster the Canadian bloodhound, Gwendolyn The Siamese Cat, Fred the donkey and Tortelinni the rooster.

But the dictator like Fat Cat from, did not want Chip to have a happy Christmas vacation, as he should sit alone in his cold room with a view over the forest, and do office work on a computer.

Two male otters, and a male otter from Redwall, all with a mysterious behavior, had started working as servants that Christmas, and nobody believed in Buster’s just as mysterious story, that he had visited the castle as early back in 1593!

One of the female otters had invited Monty to have a rendezvous in a churchyard in a little city nearby the coming night, and Gadget she thought she had seen one of the other otters by the lake New Years Eve.

Nobody dared to enter the dark cellar anymore, as a ghost of a fox in a cloak were seen down there.

Later that evening were Fat Cat entering the room, where Chip he worked, and he said ‘Your work is done for today, go and take a rest!’ and Chip ‘Thank you!’

Fat Cat said ‘You may continue your work tomorrow, and then celebrate Christmas Eve with your friends and guests!’ and Chip said ‘But it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow!’

Fat Cat shouted ‘I don’t care about that! Just meet at work tomorrow, or there won’t be any happy Christmas Eve for you!’ and went away, and slammed with the door.

The evil cat were soft inside with the memory of his parents he haven’t seen since Christmas Eve in a little village near Engelsholm for many years, where he were a kitten.

His parents said to him for the last time a foggy morning after Christmas Eve ‘We are going to take a walk in the forest!’ and went out in the snowy forest as told, but they did not return, and could not be found.

Scary flashbacks went on in Fat Cat’s head, as he laid in his bed, and remembered the piano in the sleeping room, who played without anybody around, steps from above the whole house, and that he suddenly saw a ghost like lady by a graveyard in his village.

The legendary ghost had invited Fat Cat over to the graveyard at midnight, and that’s how he changed from being a good boy to becoming a famous villain.

The 24th December 2005:

Fat Cat awoke nervously from his dream later that morning, and he haven’t been so nervous for many years.

The same morning were Gadget giving the otter servants the blame for some strange things last night, but none of them said they were not running around the house at that time.

Later that day were Gadget flying with her Ranger Plane to a forest some miles away, where she used to take a walk alone.

The mouse landed on a field, and she haven’t seen anybody around since she first came here for some years ago.

Gadget ended up by a ruined farm house, who had stood empty for many years, and there stood a used camper, and a very old bus filled up with load of books from the last century.

The inventor mouse had to stop up, and study an old machine to use for field work, but it did not work, so she walked on, and came by a bee house.

After Gadget had walked for a while, was she ending up on another bare landscape of fields, and there were she getting a surprise, as she suddenly saw Dale!

Gadget ran over to Dale, and they hugged each other, as Gadget said ‘Welcome! Nice to see you return, but how did you end up here?’

Dale told a long story that he had been send home from Iraq yesterday, and he had crashed in his Ranger Plane in this bare landscape last night, so he used the camper to sleep in.

Then were Gadget flying Dale home to the castle at sunset, and his friends were really surprised to see him.

After Dale had taken a long rest, and taken a shower, were he ready to celebrate Christmas Eve, but Chip were not ready yet.
