I still haven't seen Cannibal Holocaust. But it's just the kills are I guess more realistic and harsh. It's like when I talked either here or on HorrorDVDs about that sleeping bad death in the Friday the 13th remake. That's a death scene that would be fitting for The Prowler because Jason is supposed to kill quick. Boom and you're usually dead. In The Prowler the kills are drawn out more in both the beginning and ending. And the killer is mean in his treatment of the girls.

VIDEODROME (1982). While it's quite relevant today with people being overly obsessed with technology, this just gets too weird and is almost incomprehensible by the end. Some good scenes, but not one of Cronenberg's better films. **
The location in The Prowler is good. I wish we got more of it to really feel the town and locations.

I saw Videodrome once and it's really out there. I'll probably see it again one day.

It was okay. I found they kept referring to Freddy as just Fred which put me off a bit. Didn't really think it had much to do with the first one. Almost like it was meant to be a stand-alone.

THE WICKER MAN (1973). Had the original length on VHS, but alas, Anchor Bay has only the truncated version-big surprise, coming from them. However, still a great film with Christopher Lee and Edward Woodard -such a pompous overbearing Prig- giving standout turns. Three lovely Blondes (Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt and amazing Britt Eklund) and a genuinely frightening finale. ****

JAWS
I'm watching this with friends and it's a great time. One of them asked if it took place in space because it starts with the Universal logo. I about died.

Happy birthday to me-I'd seen it years ago on a very bad quality VHS. Got to watch it on blu ray this time. Better quality, fun watch. 6/10

When a stranger calls-came as a 2 pack with above movie. I'd never seen this but attempted to watch the remake so I had low expectations. Much better than expected. 7/10

The changeling-its been a long time since I've said this, but this movie actually creeped me out at times. Ghost movies always got to me as a kid. Really good movie. 8/10

Angel Heart (1987)
6.5/10

I choose between Angel Heart and Wild at Heart, two films I would interchange in confusion, because I hadn't seen either. I don't know if I picked the right one to see. I'll let you know after I see Wild at Heart.

Angel Heart was disappointing because the big reveal at the end had no resonance with me. Obviously, to avoid any spoilers, I won't get specific here. There was no consequence to the reveal because, although Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) seemed like a nice chap, he merely discovered who he was and what he did. I certainly wasn't invested enough in who he was to care to find out. And after it was all said and done, the reveal would not be affecting anyone else in the film (and there's really no one to care about besides Harry), nor the world for that matter, and thus there was no consequence.

The road to the reveal was interesting and mysterious, and well shot... some scenes were intriguing, and many others not so much. Also, the reveal isn't really surprising by the last quarter of the film, which is fine... but again, besides not knowing why anyone would even care about the outcome, it's really quite a ridiculous premise.
