Ditto.

Just few years back, TCM remake & the beginning are two of the few films that primarily played an important role to make me a great fan of this genre.:)

I saw Mirrors yesterday, i thought it was good, but it wasn't great. I think that they could have done more with it. Certain parts of the story was just a case of "we've seen it all before". That really spoilt what was a movie with a good story outline.

I've seen it several times before, but my roomate had never seen a Godard film Breathless is the one to start out with. I think it's a fantastic movie, very touching, very flawed, very human.

Anyways, I give An american crime 7/10

good movie, but very sad case :(

The acting in TGND did take away a lot for me. It was over the top, especially from the Aunt Ruth character. Everyone is one dimensional, even the poor girl you're supposed to feel sorry for. Also, the story being told from David's point of view just seemed very unrealistic to me (the conflict he feels is not developed enough, so his actions, or rather inaction, seem impossible). All this made the film seem almost campy to me.

AAC was the complete opposite. Real characters, better acting = powerful film that never seems to have scenes there just for shock value, as with TGND (you know what scene I'm talking about!). Anyway.,... just one person's opinion. :)

Last watched - Stir of Echoes... had been a while. Decent movie.

August Underground: Mordum.

I can't really say that it was a good movie as such. The plotline is more non-existent than your typical porn plotline. The whole "shaky cam" thing gets boring and downright annoying after about 5 minutes. But... For what it is and what it was made to do, it was amazing. Pretty much the most disturbing, realistic portrayal of murder, violence, and depravity that I've ever seen. I'll probably watch Penance tonight.

Calvaire - Second viewing. Can't help but feel a bit icky each time I watch this one, even if there are moments of outlandish comedy. Strange but interesting movie.

Haha, I was just giving you a hard time. :D
But yes, it certainly is very touching, very flawed, very human, and fantastic.

Slaughtered Vomit Dolls: WTF? Not really a movie. More like a compilation of stripping, puking and gore all shot on a camcorder. I really wanted to stop the movie 10 minutes into it, but decided to watch the whole thing. I honestly wished that I had gone with my first instinct. 1/10.

Big fan of that one. Penance is a bit tamer but still has a couple of really twisted scenes. There's a bit more characterization in that one. I've got Amateur Porn Star Killer sitting on my shelf but have yet to watch it a friend of mine recommended it to me its not as over the top as Mordum but its apparently a lot more disturbing.

Fantastic film. One of the more impressive spins on the Deliverance theme. This was one of the best foreign films I'd seen in a long time.
