"Grind House"...shut down?

Grind House Grinding to a Halt?
Source: Bloody-Disgusting.com, Film Rotation
April 16, 2006

Although there's no official word from the Weinstein Company or other such sources, rumours have been circulating over the weekend that "Project Terror", the Robert Rodriguez chapter of the horror anthology Grind House may have shut down production.

Our buddies at Bloody-Disgusting had this to report last week:

One of regular (and most reliable) scoopers dropped us a line this afternoon with some depressing news. According to our source Robert Rodriquez's "Project Terror" was officially shut down for good as of yesterday- the crew was let go and everything. It may gear up again next year, but who knows. Until then, there's no word on the fate of Tarantino's "Death Proof", which is scheduled to shoot in LA this summer. WeinsteinCo.'s Grind House double feature was scheduled to hit theaters December 1st, but it looks like we may be waiting until next year- but who knows maybe they'll pull a "Kill Bill" and 'Project Terror' will end up being a Volume 2 so to speak.

You can read more speculation about what might happened with the project at their site, as well as at the entertainment news gateway, Film Rotation, which received this from one of their sources:

I had been hearing rumours over the past few weeks that all was not going well with Grind House; the last rumour being that the project was well over budget. I personally think this would not be the case, as it seems Rodriguez never goes over budget, although I suppose there is a first time for everything. So why could this have happened? Well, without being entirely sure I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with Sin City 2. Has someone had a little word in his ear and persuaded him to focus on that instead?

There's a lot more to this story, which hopefully will be cleared up in the coming week.

It is possible.

Director Rodriguez is going thru a tough divorce right now.

But I hope this movie goes on as planned. According to IMDB Rose McGowan has just recently signed on for the female lead.

You might know her as Paige Matthews on the supernatural TV series "Charmed"

and for her supporting roles in horror movies such as Phantoms, and Scream.

Or for her roll in the under-rated dark comedy Jawbreaker.

Anyways, yeah I heard as of right now it's shut down beccause of Robert Rodriguez's personal life. From what I hear though QT is still gonna start filming his film next week. (Not sure if he's just gonna tack on an extra 20-30 minutes of material to make it a stand alone film or wait for RR to get back into it or what, but from what I heard he's still planning on shooting his half.)

haha, glad I am not the only one who saw and enjoyed that movie.

But yeah, she is a hottie..no doubt...but for some reason in Jawbreaker she was VERY pale thru the the first half on the movie.

Anyways, I wonder what each segment will be about about, from what I read it is supposed to be two seperate "mini-movies" that are 75 minutes each.
