Oh, man - I have a SERIOUS hard on for Megan Fox - Not gonna lie; if that comes out, I would buy a ticket to that, no question (regardless of how I feel about the comic).

And I totally agree with you on the cover - I picked it up from the library (checked out by a little ol' lady librarian of course) and I felt like I was buying my first porno. ;)

...

@Eman Resu - THANK YOU. I'm always looking for new comics and I haven't heard of some of those (and for those that I've heard of, you've reminded me to FINALLY check 'em out). Looks like my local library has both Animal Man and Swamp Thing. Bingo. :D

...

@Geddy - Hey, you. How's it going? Your first time reading Preacher? What do you think? It's one of my absolute favorites.

...

As for my more recent readings...

Powers Vol. 5: Anarchy

Liked this one - Leaned a little on the darker side, which was nice.

...

Powers Vol. 6: Sellouts

For some reason I'm having a hard time getting into this one... It's not bad; just seems sorta like the same ol' same ol'... I'll keep reading it, though; I like the characters and the universe enough to continue. I'm not LOVING the series as much as the people who have recommended it to me, but I'm enjoying it.

...

The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution

Sigh. Having a hard time getting through this one; really close to putting it down...

Eman Resu - I see it on your list, but I'm really turned off by Mad Tom's ranting... I assume it gets better? I'm BORED. ;-)

Powers Vol. 7: Forever

Wow - Maybe the best volume so far... I wasn't sold at first, but it gives a fantastically epic view of Christian Walker's origin. The question of where Powers belong in the world is a good one - Adds a lot of depth to Walker that, honestly, I've been looking for. Loved it and can't wait to keep reading this.

...

Animal Vol. 1: The Hunt (The New 52)

Wow. Truly and surprisingly dark and disturbing... I never read the original Animal Man run, but according to my boyfriend, he was kinda "lame" (heh)... Well this comic is moving to make Buddy anything but lame - This is an incredibly dark and disturbing universe that we're introduced to here with some graphics that really made my jaw drop... I think part of it is that I honestly wasn't expecting this to be a horror comic... But it really is.

Highly recommended. Thanks, J, for the rec. Can't wait for the next volume to come out.

If you can get a collected edition of "The last Days of Animal Man", that was a pretty decent story a few years back involving the "old" (that is pre-new 52) animal man.
Being as it's set in the future of the "old" DC universe, there's not a lot you really need to know there...but yeah I remember it being a really decent story.
Yeah he was always a bit of a second stringer/underdog, but a likeable character.

The new incarnation is well, the same guy just a much deeper, darker story.
One of my favourite "new 52" titles.

^^ I'll have to check it out, thanks. :D

Powers Vol. 8: Legends

Powers Vol. 9: Psychotic

This series just keeps getting better and better with each volume. So glad that I stuck with it - I think that Volume 8 has been my favorite so far... I might need to buy the whole collection I love it so much.

Cheebs - Have you read these at all? Anyone?

Really recommend them.

Was powers the one about the cops investigating superhumans?
Yeah I think I read the entire run of the first series.

I just read my first comic of the week.
The Walking Dead #100.
Gah!
Seriously, of all the things I've seen and read in this comic, nothing has made me want to say "fuck you very much" to the creator as this one issue.
Long time readers - Prepare to be more than a little upset.
Some chilling stuff here.
Of course, it's also the opening of what looks to be a pretty huge arc, so more TWD for us.
But shit...just...when you read it you'll know.

Also I don't know if it's just me picking up this vibe, but I'm pretty sure certain elements of the dialogue in this issue were Kirkmans commentary on how people reacted to the Michonne/Governor scene.

Yep, those are the ones... Love Powers... Did you like it? .

Thanks for the reminder on Walking Dead... Wow, seems like I'm 3 volumes behind... Just ordered them on Amazon.

...

Powers Vol. 10: Cosmic

LOVE how they keep developing the characters and story here. Honestly just keeps getting better and better. Can't wait to read the next one.

...

Batwoman: Vol. 1: Hydrology

Great art, but overall thought it was just OK... I think part of it is that I don't know the Batman/Batwoman mythos so I felt as though I was truly missing out on some of the references. Disappointed as this wasn't a very self-contained volume... Clearly leading up to the next issues... Didn't keep my interest enough unfortunately to want to read more. Not bad, just not really my thing i think.

...

Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes

Sandman Vol. 2: The Doll's House

Surprisingly, my first time reading through the series. I was actually surprised at how deeply disturbing these first two volumes were. Very very good (I especially liked the story arc for Vol. 2) and very disturbing.

...

Sandman Vol. 3: Dream Country

Nice collection of short stories. I truly do enjoy Neil Gaiman's work.

Powers Vol. 11: Secret Identity

Powers Vol. 12: The 25 Coolest Dead Super Heroes of All Time

These two volumes wrapped up one of the series' major storylines neatly (a little too neatly in my opinion, but that's ok; ultimately loved where it went and wanted more). I absolutely need to own all of these volumes. I want to reread them again already.

...

Powers Vol. 13: Z

It's unfortunate that this is the final volume in the series; Z picks up where Vol. 12 ended up and starts new storylines - I liked it but am quite disappointed that this is all there is so far. I WANT MORE.

For the time being I'm going to consider Vol. 12 to be the final... Hopefully Bendis and Oeming pick this up again. In the meantime I have a request out to my library for Bendis. other work.

...

Sandman Vol. 4: Seasons of Mists

Started this but got just about 1/2 way through... I've read it a few times before and didn't feel like re-reading it again... I want to see where the series goes next.

I just finished Detective Comics #858-860 a few days ago, which is the origin of Batwoman. I read #854-857 sometime last year. I probably won't get to the new series for a while until the single issue prices drop a bit. I wasn't going to mention it here but it does have monsters. That was the surprising part to me. The artwork is really good and I like Batwoman more than I thought I would. Kind of a realistic take on the origin of someone who could become a superhero.

Also, I finally finished the Ghost Omnibus vol. 1. The comic lost me towards the last 1/4 or so. The art quality dropped a bit and the story became more generic and seedy. I'm still going to check out the upcoming reboot later this year and maybe the older issue drawn by John Cassaday. But I won't get the other omnibus volumes after reading the wiki on what happens.

I don't have any other horror comics in my stack right now. There's a bunch of stuff I'm looking forward to picking up after I finish what I have. Horror titles like: House of Mystery, American Vampire, Rachel Rising, Vampirella, The Vault, Whispers, Girls, and The Last Resort. I'll probably start off with The Last Resort and Girls since I'm getting the collected versions of those. Plus The Vault which is only three issues.

First two issues. Interesting take with a revenge/bounty angle to the tale.
