Thumbs up The Happening (spoilers)

I must admit, M. Night Shaylaman's movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. However, I hated Lady in the Water and The Village. The Happening kinda reminded me of the J-horror flick Suicide Club.

Anyone else creeped out at seeing John Leguizamo slitting his wrists? The person next to me was all 'You're doing it wrong, John! Everyone knows it's down the road, not across the street!'

As long as he's dead, I don't really think the plants give a fuck.

I'm in the same boat. I love M. His movies are not only interesting to me, I enjoy the creepy undertone and the visual secrets he sometimes uses. I know that it is sad, but I like his movies. <<<I still haven't seen The Happening though and I can't wait to see it.>>>>:D

that's just it--he's not--he's tied himself down to an incredibly formulaic structure for every movie...and it gets worse every time, because what used to be a surprise you didn't see coming is now a drag because you're just waiting for a twist and you're aware of being manipulated. he should start making whatever he wants, instead of tying himself down with what is now a stale format. i think he's capable of much more, he's done such interesting stuff.
