What did everyone think of the shining did you like it, did you not?
was it worth the read???????

i read it, but it has been about 15 years ago. i thought it was an excellent story. neither of the movie versions have done it justice, IMO.

OMG!!!!!!

I literally just finished this book not even an hour ago and it was awesome it was the first horror book i ever read and now i am hooked!!!!!

The shining is probably my favorite horror movie, but I've never seen the book for sale anywhere. I suppose amazon would have it though.

My uncle told my it was way different from the movie though, like it's more about Jack's alcoholism and less about the supernatural, is that true?

The movie IS different from the book (particularly the second half), but rest assured that the supernatural is still very much present.

I thought it was good but not one of King's best. And Kubrick's version is definitely first class !

Although they were incredibly different, I loved both the book and the Kubric movie, Ive yet to see the miniseries, but Im not in any rush too, lol.

your uncle has it backwards ..
The book definately dealt more with the supernatural but Kubricks film version portrayed Jack as going mad. Everything was in his mind.

that caused a huge problem between kubrick and king - and eventually king did his own made for TV version.
