The Shining is a masterpiece, and although Kubrick's version of the movie is my favorite horror movie, it isnt even close to how King intended based on the book. Also, what the hell are you talking about, you never see it for sale?! Look in a fucking book store, everytime I go to get a new King book I see 10+ Shining's there.

The book is excellent. The Kubrick version of the book seemed to imply that Jack Torrance was already batshit before he went to the Overlook. The book made his insanity as a more ongoing process.
The tv remake was ok. I did like that the remake went into the background of both Jack and the Overlook that Kubrick seemed to ignore.
