I do that sometimes, but I still have to see for myself, no matter what.......If I paid attention to most of the people here, I would have never watched Spawn....And I like it....Not everyone likes the same things...'Good' and 'bad' are a matter of perception (Just like you don't mind sex in horror movies, but I would rather have more 'horror' instead of sex scenes, etcetera)...

And...Even though I believed everyone here (and they were right) about House Of The Dead, I still had to watch it...And...I'm glad I did:p...There were actually a few good scenes (mostly near the end, when they were in that house...The ripping apart scenes...the leg thing...you know)

I thought The Village was majorly disappointing...But, I'm still glad that I watched it, otherwise, I'd always wonder about it...

i still see things for myself .. but it gives me that chance to benchmark it against what certain other people say - based on their likes.

but this is deviating from the origional questions. your examples just now werent movies you got sucked into because of the cover..

I let the cover catch my eye... and then try to read the synopsis on the back, at which time it has to pass the "do my eyes glaze over before finishing the first sentence" test. Many fail.... I may have missed a few gems with such impatience, who knows....
