I liked all three segments, Park Chan-Wooks Cut being my favorite. Dumplings lived up to its hype for me. I was pleasantly surprised by Box, as I had heard from a lot of people that it was far inferior to the other 2.

All in all, I think they ordered them well, and I'm not unhappy at all to have it in my collection. 7/10
Have you watched the full length Dumplings yet? What did you think of that?

Last seen for me was Ichi 1.

Glad to see that someone liked and got Izo. I love Miike, but I just couldn't get into this one. I might have to try watching it again. Last Asian movie seen....J Horror Anthology: Legends. It's actually six episodes from a TV show (I think). A couple of them were silly, but She Bear, Yamaba, and Lost Souls were worth the purchase price. None, however, are going to win any awards.

I like these anthologies because 1) you can get them dirt-cheap (I got mine for $5.50), and 2) the stories last just about the right amount of time (in the case of these about 15 minutes each).

yeah Izo was more of a visual film...although i suppose there was some sort of message about violence and spirituality....but i think Miike should stick to horror, black comedy and Yakuza films and stay the hell away from philosophy

i bought Evil Dead Trap about a week ago....hopefully it will be here today

Not bad, the story was more comprehensible than the first. If you liked Ichi the Killer it's worth it to watch Ichi 1.

"turn" 6-7/10

It´s about a woman who´s reliving the same day over and over while being in a coma after a traffic accident. The thing is, that she´s the only living being in this repeated "dimension".

You could call it a serious version of "groundhog day", but to compare those 2 movies wouldn´t be fair to either.

Would prefer "Groundhog day" any day though.

Alive

Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus), Alive is the story of a man who is spared from execution only to become the victim of horrific experiments. Alive is a much more slowly paced film than Versus was, lacking much of that film's frenzied action. However, the fight scenes late in the film are some of the most impressive "Matrix-style" martial arts I've seen. The entire movie is filmed with a very washed-out color scheme, appearing almost black and white for much of the running time. Although it does sort of drag near the end, and probably could have stood to have left fifteen minutes on the cutting room floor, Alive is a worthwhile effort. Overall: 7/10

Death Trance...english dubbed...what a piece of shit...the bad dubbing (no ambient at all) and rock'n'roll music made it even worse...story sucked, design sucked, fighting sucked, actors sucked ...but not in a good bad way.....just a bad martial art movie:mad:
