This is my favorite indie flick and one of my favorite flicks of all time! The only downfall this movie had (which was mentioned earlier) was the ending. IMO, it sucked all kinds of ass! Sure, the beginning of the end was great, but once I seen that damn arm move, I was so damn pissed! But hey, I still loved it. I give it a 5 out of 5.
P.S. It's in my Movie Hall of Fame! |

The first time I saw the movie I was pretty undecided... When I watched it again, I decided it was genius. I love the movie, especially the ending.

The ending was cool I think, I wish, however that there was something between her neurotically searching for perfection and her going batshit insane. Other than that, it was very cool, funny, and well acted. I hate to be picking up on a three week old thread, but the movie is great and I just joined. I like the direction Indie horror is going and I'm glad to see it not being too formulaic.

At first I thought the arm moving at the end was kinda cheesy, but I accept it now as the arm didn't actually move, but she imagined it did because she's nuts... kinda like how the glass kept cracking on her doll's box the whole movie. I don't think that really happened either (it's been a while since I've seen it, but they may have even illustrated as much). So with that in mind the ending isn't as crappy to me.
The movie itself was kinda slow I thought though. But I think it needed to be to set up who May is and make the ending acceptable.

I can't believe I never commented on this film.
I loved May from beginning to end. It is one of the few recent horror films that I think gets it absolutely right. The writing is sharp, the characters are sympathetic and the pace and plotting are just about perfect, in my opinion. It is slow because you actually get to know May, which I personally think is the best thing about the film. |
