[QUOTE=The Bloofer Lady;983412]Did end up watching this. While I won't pretend to understand all of it, I really enjoyed the claustrophobic feel to it. SPOILER QUESTION AHEAD

No I didn't.
His dreams were premonitions, and he was dreaming of disaster. There was even a thought he was falling into insanity...at the end was that really the last wave to destroy Sydney?? I'm not sure why he had a connection with Aborigines' culture.. This is a film you can view a few times and get your different ideas.

ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL (1979). Definitely a cult movie and hasn't aged all that well, but some funny moments and The Ramones too! ***

Reason I put this in a horror forum was all the names I noticed in the credits and during the interviews/commentaries:
Roger Corman- Producer. Responsible for SO MANY horror/exploitation films
Joe Dante-writer. THE HOWLING, PIRAHNA, MATINEE, GREMLINS
ROB BOTTIN-Giant Mouse/Mrs. Mouse. THE THING, THE HOWLING.
Dean Cundey-Cinematographer. HALLOWEEN, THE FOG, THE THING
John Buechler-Costume design. FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART 6, GHOULIES.
James Cameron-Production Asst. THE TERMINATOE, ALIENS, T2, TITANIC
Gale Anne Hurd-Prouction Asst.- THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE WALKING DEAD.

PJ Soles-Actress. HALLOWEEN, CARRIE, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. Adorably cute, although she (and most of the cast) look too old to be high school students. Plays an obsessed Ramones fan, although she revealed she was terrified during the concert segment by the unruly behavior of the actual band fans who were there for the event.
Clint Howard-Actor. EVILSPEAK, ICE CREAM MAN.
Vince Van Patton-Actor. HELL NIGHT
Mary Woronov-Actress. DEATH RACE 2000, NIGHT OF THE COMET.
Dick Miller-Actor. Has been in everything ever made,it seems, usually for a short scene, but always memorable. THE TERMINATOR, THE TERROR, GREMLINS, BUCKET OF BLOOD, THE HOWLING, MATINEE.

FADE TO BLACK 1980

Living only on a steady diet of cigarettes and old movies, a young man starts losing touch with reality. He becomes obsessed with a Marilyn Monroe look-alike and starts bringing murderous movie characters to life to kill anyone standing in his way.

A nice change of pace but a little tame.

Does he dress up like murderous characters, or does he conjure the "real" ones to kill for him?

Yeah, probably should have made that clearer, but conjuring them up would have been cool too!

Or maybe you make it so you never really know for sure...

Me too! Still cute as can be and much better actress than given credit for.
My wife and I met her at HORRORFIND convention some years back and she was just great...funny and nice with good conversation between us.
