Also, there were somed "tortured soul" scenes that were themselve pretty gripping. All in all, though far from perfect, a fun watch. Ashe.

Well, speaking of "heavy movies", you should check out his first (student) film, Begotten. It doesn't get much heavier, I think.

If you can't bring anything new to the table, why bother?

Horrible in many, many ways.

I enjoyed it and I'm a big fan of the original.

Where the Wild Things Are (2009)

A love song to childhood and imagination...beautiful film. Captured the essence if the original story, and expanded it into something truly magical. Everyone should see this movie...one of the best I've seen this year.

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)

Kind of bland, but still a decent entertainer. Lots of amusing moments and solid performances from a great cast, but lazy direction and lack of plot drag it down. You've already seen the best moments in the trailers - maybe worth a look when it hits DVD, but no reason to rush. Just fairly entertaining fluff, nothing that really stands out.

Blue Velvet (1986)

The simplest beautiful tale of Lychian world. A tensed wicked trip into like dreams with darkness & lights of nightmare. Loved this film along with all the tracks...mostly Roy Orbison's In Dreams...

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
'Go to sleep. Everything is all right'

"Abnormal activity" 5/10

The scenes at night were entertaining, but I couldn't care less about their daily lives and arguments.

About the scares. Cheap tricks most of em, which CAN be fine, but I thought they stuck to the same recipe way too much.

All in all I woulnd't say this haunted house flick was better than movies such as "The chair". Also a low budget indie flick.

When it comes to scares and atmosphere neither of them holds a candle to The Haunting, The Shining, Ju-on, The Grudge, The Woman In Black... ect.

The big difference is, that Normal Activcity uses handheld cameras, which is always a pain in my ass...

"Watchmen" 8-9/10

Could be my favourite superhero movie. At least it's in my top 3.

The Holy Mountain (1973). This movie begins with a bombardment of seemingless unrelated and disturbing imagery and religious symbolism with no discernable story; at one point its seems this movie has no point at all. Then it starts to tighten itself up to reveal some relevent meaning and even a story. By the end, the beginning of the movie, which made no sense, is revealed to be just that, but somehow there was still an indescribable point to the beginning. Not an easy movie to comment on, which is probably for the best. If one can handle some pretty disturbing imagery and is willing to be open to philosophic and religious opinions and relevence, then this movie might just be for you.

Hey Forunato. Thanks for pointing out the directorial relation between Begotten and Suspect Zero. Whodathunk? Ashe.
