Actually my entire collection of DVDs were stolen. Should I now invest in Blu-ray movies?

Na, don't need to replace any of the DVDs... IMHO... only if there's a movie you really want to watch over and over again, then maybe you buy it. (If the definition of blue-ray is important to you, than ya, go blue-ray.)

Instead, you can get DVDs/VHS from your local library, or DVD rental store. Might as well share DVDs with everyone... no need for everyone to have their own copy collecting dust on the shelf. Plus, you can see films on youtube, rent from Amazon (even buy a digital copy that's always on Amazon for you), catch new and old stuff on Netflix... keeps things fresh; because there maybe better uses for your money.

Nothing feels better than to hold a copy of your favorite film in your hands.

Showcasing them on your lovely DVD cabinet; your places to visit when reality gets to be a little too much.

I love my library of DVD's, I am sorry for your loss.

Yeah I like having my favorite movies available which is why I've never had a big collection of movies. If I do get bluray I'm thinking about only getting these movies:

Night of the Living Dead (remake)
Day of the Dead
Zombie
The Shining
Children of the Corn
Carrie
Sleepy Hollow
Sweeney Todd

Those are some of my all-time favorites. I have other favorites but they aren't on bluray. But other than those I think I just want to get wifi streaming with Netflix and Hulu so I can watch shows and movies in my bedroom (since my mom hugs the smart TV in the living room now)
