Considering the 5 "I"s in that last post, someone needs an enema around these parts.

"Shedding some light" implies adding to a preexisting discussion, i.e. "To provide information that helps solve a mystery or end confusion," not originating said discussion.

And there is no "I" in ChronoGrl.

it's called context. and if i were to even try to maneuver around that one right there i could say yes, i am adding to something preexisting; my actual post with the topic being introduced. one would have to introduce a subject before getting to the actual body or content of it.

also i'd be careful what you quote. wikipedia isn't a source that would be academically acceptable. sure you may quote clichesite, but there is no true authenticity behind it or fact. that being said, i went to the link. it said what you quoted and i agree with their definition, for the most part. there was no mention of the words"preexisting discussion." those were your words and your interpretation.

example:
if i walked in to a lecture dealing with psychology and said let me shed some light on the topic of cognitive dissonance then there wouldn't necessarily have to be a preexisting conversation going on before i arrived for my remark to make sense.

it's quite humorous that you continuously mention me along with the words troll. i am far from a troll but i honestly could care less what you define my actions as. i am here for legitimacy. but if you get enjoyment out of saying that, then by all means have a ball.

(edit: i will never again respond to the accusations of a troll for it does nothing but feed it.) now back to our original conversation...

Right. What was the context... ?

The context is within a passive voice i.e. adding to a preexisting discussion as opposed to the active creation thereof.

if i come across anything along the lines of the those topics then i will check it out. if i do not end up searching, sooner or later i will probably touch base on some of those subjects anyway.

rephrased for those of you who are confused and dumbfounded.

chronogirl understood but tried to take matters in to more depth then needed.
