Act of Creation and Horror Films

Hi everyone, I have been looking everywhere for some good books on the history of horror films and how this relates to creation and the creative process. Can anyone recommend me any? i have read the BFI companion to horror but thats about it. SO do you think that each new horror film is uniqely creative or that they follow formulas and adapt? :)

The American Nightmare is a great documentary that really gets into the psychology of horror, but I'm not sure if it fites your criteria perfectly.

If you just want a good book on creativity (but not dealing with horror) try The Artist's Way which is a fantastic creativity workbook that help train the mind to nurture its own creativity.
