"Piranha" (2010) 6-7/10
Easy to see most of the not too huge budget went to all the famous faces involved. When you get porn actresses to play some of the parts you know you're financialy screwed. :D Piranha wise i thought the story went quite repetitive halfway through. Would've loved to see more exploring of the old hidden lake and to see the story take the path of "The Descent". But of course, not all directors can be as creative and clever as me. The world just isn't that perfect.

The last movie I saw at the theater was "Devil". I didn't hate it like I have the last few M. Night movies, but I didn't love it either.
The last DVD I watched was "Sunshine". Was so bored with it, I didn't finish watching it. I think tonight will be "Survival of the Dead" and.....not sure what else. Depends on if I can stay awake past 9:30.

The Hole (2001). A wonderful and twisty little thriller, this lovely little flick persistently threatens predictability but continued to entertain nonetheless. The story itself is a wonderful mix of flashbacks told in a believable fashion. The acting, and direction, was solid. The camera work was critical when appropriate. Driven by a score that pounded by way of subtlety, the viewer's heart followed as if on cue. And while it appeared to fall apart towards its denouement, it recovered more than nicely.

Excellent TCM line-up. I watched -
Mr. Sardonicus: Never saw this before. But, very cool movie by William Castle Straight Jacket: Castle's classic starring Joan Crawford Hunchback of Notre Dame: Charles Laughton version. Great, but Chaney's is better. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane: Gets better each time you see it. Davis and Crawford are brilliant. Mad Love or The Hands of Orlock: A great Peter Lorre vehicle. |
