The Keep - Michael Mann

Wondering how many people out there know this film ..

If you haven't seen it - check it out if you can find it.
I have a widescreen laserdisc .. its not on DVD . although there has been a lot of chatter about it coming out before long.

DVDs are available on Ebay but they are bootlegs burned from laser copies.

The soundtrack is a tangerine dream score which is one of the most rare and sought after film scores in the genre.

I'd love to hear anyone's opinions good or bad on the film .. and if you have any new news on a DVD release.
(fans are praying for an isolated music track but i don think thats going to happen)

Early 80's movie with Scott Glen. I had seen this when it was first released. Pretty good movie if I recall but I also read the book and enjoyed that more.

Haven't heard anything on a DVD release.

Fantastic looking film, with a great mood to it and a top score … let down by a badly paced plot and awful monster!

I saw this one a long time ago. It had a really strange score as I recall, I remember lots of synthesizer/electronica music, which was kind of out of place in the WW2 setting. There was an evolving monster that sometimes looked cool, and sometimes looked cheesy. But the atmosphere of ancient, imprisoned evil was very well done, and I think overall it was a pretty decent film. I've looked for a copy but never found one. I think I'll pick up the book though, now that this thread reminded me of it.

The Soundtrack MAKES this film ...
The best Tangerine Dream has ever done in my opinion..

I agree the creature looks bad in some scenes but it was pre CGI and they tried to do some difficult things with it (surrounded by the smoke it was emitting)

It didnt detract from my enjoyment though ...

Not sure how i would feel if i was seeing it today for the 1st time but i thought it was great when it first came out ..
