Night Of The Demon (1957)

British horror film directed by Jacques Tourneur (I Walked With A Zombie, the original Cat People). An adaptation of the M. R. James story "Casting the Runes" (1911). The astounding atmosphere and glorious set-pieces are remarkable for the time with locations for the film include Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire (as Lufford Hall), Stonehenge, Bricket Wood railway station, and the round reading room of the British Museum. Hard to believe that such a classic was only eventually released in the UK on DVD in 2010!

This is one of my all time favorite horror movies. Atmospheric and at sometimes frightening, a real winner.

A very good film, and possibly an early film version of the trope about being able to pass on a curse to someone else so you don't die?
