[Don't] Try this at home.

You know those things in life where they always expect that just showing you will be enough. Things to do with fire mostly. An interesting one I saw was a bubble tower, where Methane is bubbled through soapy water. It creates a vertical tower that can be several meters high of bubbles which can then be lit and proceed to burst into flames. Very fun to watch, and I know that if I got my hands on a tank of Methane, I'd try it.

Other ones are dropping Caesium into water. If I got Caesium, I'd probably try it out (if you didn't know, Caesium is highly reactive and melts, ignites and explodes in water).

There are other things, things that are much simpler and easy to do. My question for you is, Do you ever do things like that? Things that you know are stupid and that they always tell you not to try but you would, and maybe even did do.

I did that at school way back when with sodium (I think it was) which is in the same periodic group as caesium and so reacts in the same way. The biggest difference is that the reaction isnt as powerful, hence the teacher allowing us to do it. Caesium is highly explosive when it contacts water, wouldnt try that stuff myself. I did try an experiment by chucking a small lump of sodium in the sink to see what happened, one of my classmates heard the fizzing and bent over the sink to see when it exploded. We both had tiny singe marks all over our faces and had a serious case of tinnitus for a few hours! Great times! The teacher wasnt impressed though.

Yeh, our teacher was able to show us the sodium and lithium reactions. Quite good to watch.

Great commercial...

I'm surprised this hasn't (unless I missed it) been posted yet.

Oh shit, sorry, didn't realize videos couldn't have their own thread, why clutter up the general board with new topics. My bad.

You know... with a professional's touch that red house furniture commercial could become really hilarious.
