Horror is like any other genre of movies. It will have it's classic films that come out every now and again which will be imitated by inferior movies but they can still be entertaining.I agree about the lack of originality these days but like any other genre after the thousands of movies that have been made. how many different story lines are there left to explore. The other problem is the obsession with sequels and remakes. As I've said before it is all about money and the studios just don't like taking risks with
original ideas so they stick with the tried and trusted "brand names".
I personally believe there are plenty of horror novels out there by various authors that are totally original and crying out to be adapted into movies but again it comes down to money.

There is no limit! There isn't a book that says how many movies you can make, there is no limit! Horror will always have new subjects, you can always make up new monsters, ghost stories, ect.

...Well there's Scarecrow...

...And you could count the 3 inbreds from Wrong Turn I suppose...

...The virus in Cabin Fever....

...There's Fuckface from Monster Man....

...Chop Top from 1000 Corpses...

I know I'm stretching it (And that's only 5!), but that's because you're right... They haven't given us too many new (good) villains since The Creeper.

its true .. of all of those - the virus is the most origional .. i can give you a list of movies with scarecrows and inbreds.

even then.. i can give you a list of lethal disease movies ...

the relic was another good one ..or Species, or Mimic ..

but that goes to show that Horror films seem to need the Sci-Fi angle to come up with a good monster
