Up (2009)
Pixar have it down: creating tender, entertaining stories that can engage a wide audience. And of course backing it up with breathtaking visuals. Wall-E and Up have been the best yet. Hope they can keep it up for at least a little while longer. One of the best of the year. I Sell the Dead (2009) This one started out as a creative, creepy, and goofy Gothic horror tale. Was really digging it up until the third act, and then it just lost a lot of steam. I think also it was too short; didn't really build the story into what it could have been. Overall worth a watch, though.

Murder Loves Killers too (2009)
A decent low budget homage to 80's slasher but with a bit funny & interesting ending. >>: B- Mystic River (2003) >>: B+ eXistenZ (1999) >>: B+ Bitch Slap (2009) >>: C

Wow. Well, for what it is (torture), it's really good. That particular sub-genre is just not my bag, though. However, if you DO like torture flicks, this might not be enough. Someone mentioned that they were expecting "more" from this flick... Well, for me, it was enough, but if you're really into torture flicks, then this doesn't really do much to enhance the genre. Still, though, high marks from me. Recommended if this is what you're into. 4/5. |
