The Snowman

That's overall very weird but also very intense and interesting all the way through. It is also very artsy, stylized gory, unique, and original! It's definitely worth a look for those into psychological thrillers who feel like something different!

I just saw the "Child's Play" reboot, and it is actually pretty good. The first half is very entertaining and sometimes funny before it starts getting more intense in the second half, then scary. It also has a good mix of the old school done right format and the new school CGI format that actually blends well. The parts with the CGI also look real and lively, and not like the cheap CGI that you can tell is computer animated and added to the picture. It also held my interest from the beginning through the end. This is not normally saying much, but it is a lot better than a lot of the other remakes from the past decade.

THE HOUSE ON MANSFIELD ST. 2019

British foundfootage. A film maker documents creepy stuff going on in his new cottage.
I enjoyed it. Some pretty settings to look at.

THE YOUNG CANNIBALS 2019

A group of friends is tricked into eating human meat and then released into the woods to be sacrificed to a monster.
Bit of a different story and i enjoyed it.

They must chew very badly with those teeth, these poor younglings.

That’s the plot of the movie, right? How they manage to get anything to eat. I’m thinking human smoothies.

They don't become cannibals. They have to try survive in the woods from the monster that now wants them because they've eaten human flesh. Its pretty good although they do have the sterotypical group of friends.

Finally got to see Joker. It delivered on every level: the story, the build up, the visuals, the mesmerizing performance by Joaquin Phoenix,... A very bleak story that touches upon real frustrations in our current society. You can debate on wether it lacks nuance, but that does not make it any less relevant.

Two quick side notes:
1) I know that the Batman-movies over the past 30 years have not really delved into the backstory of Bruce Wayne's parents. Are there any comics who did that?
2) I was 17 when River Phoenix died. At the time, he was an icon/cult figure of cinema. Now people only talk about his brother and he seems, for lack of a better word, to be "forgotten". Is that Joaquin's merit, was River perhaps not as good as we all thought back then? Anyway, it just struck me and I wanted to quickly mention it.

They Look Like People - A slow burner that builds up some tension towards the end. I like it because more than aliens or anything else it touches on the fear of losing a friend, of growing apart.

I tried so hard with this one. I don't mind a slow burn, but, this was a little TOO slow for me.
