I've been listening to the same old stuff... Ramones, Swingin Utters, PJ Harvey, Portishead. I really have to recommend "The Secret Life of the Love Song and The Flesh Made Word" two lectures given by Nick Cave. They should be available through bookstores under isbn 1902670078 or possibly through www.king-mob.co.uk . It's an amazing examination of the true nature of love songs and, separately, the impact of biblical imagery on art. There's also really really beautiful versions of "West Country Girl", "People Ain't No Good", "Sad Waters", "LOve Letters", and "Far From Me".

I've been listening to Codeine's The White Birch quite a bit lately. It's seriously one of the most miserable records I've ever heard. I'm not at all surprised that they called it quits after this. Unless your name is Michael Gira, it's hard to keep turning out such despairing work.

^^ I hate MUSE so much
...... but that's just me :) Opinions are like assholes.....blah, blah, ect. @ Bobby Jack: Nick Cave fan huh? Don't strike many of them these days. I really like his first few solo albums (From Her To Eternity, The First Born Is Dead and Tender Prey). I was a huge fan of his band before his solo stuff The Birthday Party aswell. |

Starfish by the Church. The more I listen to this record, the more I realize that it is one of the essential albums of the Eighties. Right up there with Disintegration and The Queen is Dead.

ASSUCK - Anticapital hasn't left my CD player all week. Great songs like October Revolution and Civilisation Comes, Civilisation Goes. Political Grindcore at it's finest. |

Right now I'm listening to the latest Bloodhound Gang album - Hefty Fine. It's interesting...pretty different from a lot of their stuff.
They've taken it in a more rock than hiphop direction, of course there's still funny lyrics happening here and there, but it seems to have taken a more serious turn musically...seems more effort went into the sound this time. It's a pretty good album, I'd suggest checking it out. Also been revisiting a few tracks here and there from the Beavis and Butthead do America, and Lil' Nicky soundtracks, and a few tracks off Necro - the sexorcist, Butthole Surfers - weird revolution and Grand Buffet. |
