It starts out ok, stays that way and just when it starts to get good, something happens everything turns to crap.
Too bad. The world could use a new "Bernie".

Awful. I was disappointed to hear a Public Enemy song in the movie, but Chuck D is fine with it. Still not ok with it, but anyway. Pass on this. Just like the first one.

2/10

That's too bad. What did you think of the 2nd one Star Trek Into Darkness?

Elle (2016)

Michele Leblanc, the daughter of a notorious mass murderer is now the head of a successful video game company. A successful businesswoman who always brings the same open & ruthless attitude to her professional life as to her sex/love life. But after she was attacked & raped in her home by an unknown assailant, she gets caught up in a curious game to tracking down that man down...a game that may, get any moment, spiral out of control!

From the director of the original RoboCop, Total Recall & Basic Instinct; it was nothing great but an interesting psychologically twisted drama with little dose of both thriller & comedic elements.

All Through the House (2015)

Plenty of gore but it actually more had the elements for a Slasher-Porn!

I found it pretty popcorn.
Personally I have to disagree with the comparison.
I thought the first one was quite good, respectful of the source material, trying to make new of old and I think they did ok.
I actually liked the second one more.
More action heavy but the inner-fleet turmoil and a more interesting villain.
Anyways.

The third, though?
Just inferior in almost every way.
Wasn't really anything about the music for me though...just the whole...the plot was weak, the bad guys motivation if you can even call it that was pathetic...not to mention entirely overused in movies like this.
Their "new and interesting" side character just felt forced. I found it "ok" but pretty shallow...and that whole MAJOR plothole: How was the girl "hiding out" in a cloaked ship from the enemy exactly? It had crashed and remained stationary, and it was HIS ship...so what, he just forgot it was there?

It's not without its fun moments. But you can tell it's been largely handed off to someone else. JJA strikes again. Alias went to shit because of him doing this, LOST became a mess when he left too. Now this.

I'd see it if you kind of enjoy the characters, but it was almost like some of the actors had gotten pretty tired with it too, I found a lot of their energy seemed to be gone.
I'd give it a 5/10 honestly.

Haven't seen it yet. I only watch these type of films when I need to have my brain almost completely turned off. I'll see it eventually at least 'cause of Cumberbatch. I thought the first one was bad too.(not original, but these awful alternate reality ones)

SCI-FI BOYS (2005). Pretty good retrospective of the children of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine, including John Landis, Peter Jackson, Don Glut and others. Lots of Forrest J Ackerman footage also.
Like Jackson (and many others , I'm sure), I can remember my first FM vividly. In a short version, was in a TG&Y in Jonesboro Arkansas (Five and Dime Store) in probably early October 1969. It was Issue #59 with the great Basil Gogos cover of Barnabas Collins.. Was a big DARK SHADOWS fan, so got it strictly for that and became hooked for the next several years until all the STAR WARS coverage began-and was really more into music by that time anyway. Still, a great intro and despite the juvenile thrust FM often took, I remember that time fondly and certainly enjoying brewing a pot of coffee and poking through my many back issues. ***

The Girl on the Train (2016)

Loved the book, loved the movie. It takes a while to get going, but it gets really suspenseful in the second half. The directing was great. It gave a disorienting feel to the film that makes sense since the movie is from the points of view of three women, and one of those women is a depressed drunk divorcee. The directing choices justified the first half's slowness in retrospect. You don't know which point of view or which memory is real, but it's all put together nicely at the end. Emily Blunt is incredible.

Watched it. Still meh. Cumberbach is always great, but that's about it. 3/10

Great! I loved the book too, so naturally I was a little wary of what the movie might be like. Your review is one of three I've seen in the last 4 hours or so, and the other two were totally thumbs up. Now I have any to see it even more.
