Island of Lost Souls (1933)
Absolutely one of the most underrated horror films of the 1930s. Spectacular and frightening. Based off of the H.G. Wells tale, this is the bizarre story of a mad doctor and his experiments in the transformation of animal to man. His experiments aren't working very well. A man stumbles across the island inhabited by this doctor, and here-in the plot thickens. Loved. Every. Second. And, as a kicker, a terrifyingly tense, perfectly executed bang ending. (Plus, it boasts an almost unrecognizable Bela Legosi, fresh off of Murders in the Rue Morgue, as one of the "things".) Last edited by alkytrio666; 12-30-2006 at 07:41 AM. |

A great movie.
But wasn't it based on H.G. Wells' The Island of Dr Moreau? |
