Dig both. But II is the winner for me. AoD kinda annoys me now because a lot of people thrashed it and I've grown totally fucking sick of it.

2 is the one for me. i love them both, but if i'm going to sit down and watch one of them, i would pick 2 hands down. plus 2 is a whole lot better party movie.

the first one was dark and gritty and i loved it, but for me bruce campbell is just better in a more comedic role. his physical comedy and facial expressions compliment the goofy violence/gore the the 2nd installment perfectly.

evil dead 2

Love 'em both. #1 is creepy and yes...the trees

But my fav is #2 just for Bruce Campbell's brilliant performance beating himself over the head with the plates.

My 9 year old's fav is AoD, but he's just a little shit, what the fuck does he know anyway?:D

Evil Dead, brilliant for it's time, and still makes me flinch today. Evil Dead 2, more funny than anything else.

Evil Dead 2. It's gorier. Eventhough, the original has the disturbing tree rape scene. The second one has the humor, which I enjoy more than a horny tree.

1, because it was a movie that took itself seriously, it was extremely groundbreaking and gory, and it turned me on to the horror genre.
*edit* oops, already posted in this thread.

Very close call, but I'd have to go with Dead by Dawn (aka Evil Dead 2) just because of the whole Ash vs his hand thing, which is still in my book the No. 1 moment in the history of horror.

But then again, I saw No. 2 on the big screen when it got out (as opposed to The Evil Dead), so perhaps I am not completely objective on this...
