Let the Right One In – I know a lot of people have liked this movie and had nice things to say about it, but I found it a little bland. It was very pretty in spots, sure, but ultimately it didn’t seem to do anything that other vampire movies of the past hadn’t already done.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
The wife and me had watched all of the NOES flicks cept this one, so in it went. I must say its pretty strong and stays on its feet for a standalone flick, and also as a franchise continuation. Craven plotted up a real unique and masterful plot to twist events into a climax which he would have wanted, and was ultimately satisfied with. Pretty good after the disappointments of the last 3 NOES flicks. I am intrigued, however, as to how FvJ would fit into this timeline...and if anyone has bothered to mull over this point. Rating - * * * ½

The Nines
I went into this with pretty low expectations - I usually CANNOT stomach Ryan Reynolds for more than a few minutes at a time. Much to my surprise...he's actually REALLY good in this one. Actually, the movie as a whole completely shattered my expectations. It's a strange little movie...reminded me a bit of Donnie Darko, in a way. Some of the dialogue is pretty weak, but the plot(s) are fantastic and the ending leaves you with a lot to think about. I really recommend this one...check it out if you get the chance.

The Love Guru ... funny a couple of times - mostly bad (no suprise)
You Dont Mess With the Zohan - amusing ... not genius or anything Sharkwater .... a must see film. the documentary of a guy who loves sharks - trying to save them from extinction. one of those movies that opens your eyes and keeps them open ... even if only 10% of what i saw is true - it's fucking horrible. more information on how the humans are just destroying anything in their path. arrogant fucking assholes |

High Plains Drifter Great stuff I enjoyed this one a lot. The supernatural overtones really made this one for me as well as a good dose of violence. I dig the revisionist westerns a lot more than the classic era. Jaws I've decided to watch the whole series again. A total fuckin' classic. The early era of Speilberg's work is great I enjoy it a lot more than his later output which I find hard to stomach. Deathstalker Titties, swords and sorcery! Can't go wrong with this kinda shit  Last edited by Elvis_Christ; 12-14-2008 at 03:41 PM. |
