Not bad, would probably be a pretty good introduction into the thriller genre for younger folk, actually eg - lots of bodies, jumps, bit of tension, yet minimal onscreen violence, and not too many actual kills. But yeah not a bad watch at all, even if it's just todays most recent "rear window" remake.

2001 Maniacs.
They completely missed the charm of the original- the Northerners were so annoying and vacuous you rooted for the Southerners to do them in. In this remake the Northerners were normal, average college kids. You don't hate them. So the dynamic is reversed- I didn't want the Southerners to kill them, which made the story very average. There were a few fun touches here and there, though- like a little girl pressing a rat to death in a cider press. |

Generously overdone, and largely ineffective. I think I preferred The Shining a lot more than this film.
