Quote:
In the BOOK, Jonathon Harker was actually a very, very realistic and down-to-earth charcater. He was believable in every aspect, and his gradual trip into insanity in the castle is like actually being there. His emotions are real, his fears humane. We really didn't get any personal connections at all with the Count- in fact, surprisingly, very few of the 400ish pages are on the Count. And as far as Renfield, he was an enjoyable character, but not as easy to relate to as Harker, nor as realistic. The movies throw all these charcaterizations off, however. They've yet to create a Harker on film that even comes close to the one in the book.

I guess I aughta read the book in that case. I read a condensed version a few years back, I guess it must have been quite different from the real novel beacuse Harker was just as flat and boring as he is in the movies....

I could always dig Nathaniel from the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books. I also took a shine to Dean from "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.
