saw 4 at the theatre last night. i liked it better than 3. the twist was good. i really liked it.

B+/A- Arang  Another Asian ghost story, again from Korea. A female detective investigating the bizarre murders revolving around four male friends... Honestly, I actually found it incredibly well directed and an interesting take on the feminist side of horror. Seriously. Director Sang-hoon Ahn creates a believable strong woman and challenges the patriarchal horror archetype by objectifying and haunting the male characters. That's not to say that this movie is devoid of sexism, but in the Asian Horror world of victimized girls, it's good to see that it's not only the Ghost fulfilling revenge, but the detective as well. I really enjoyed it and would definitely see it again. B/B+
