Horror of Dracula

Other than Satanic Rites, this is my first Hammer Dracula film. Even though it doesnt quite stack up to the 1931 version, this is easily my 2nd favourite take on the story. Cushing was born to play Van Helsing.

last seen :

Last Action Hero - i've seen this flick about 8 times. each time i try to find what the critics hated about it and i cant. I love the way the film plays with the cliches of the genre (my favorite .. the cop buddy pairing lineup)
I love the villian, i love the structure of the film .. I just think it's a great ride .. It pays homage to the genre while poking fun at it .. a difficult balance that i think was achieved. It is also in no small way a film about the love of cinema.

i've turned this thing over and over and the only thing i can come up with is yet another example of how americans love to build superstars, just so they can tear them down again.

Three Fugitives - saw this a long time ago and dont remember liking it as much then as i did this time. maybe i've mellowed on Martin Short.

some good funny little moments.
I wish i had a copy of the french origional.

I think people/critics hated it because the were expecting another T-2.
Same deal with Bruce Willis and Hudson Hawk.

The Prophecy

Very cool, original story about angels waging a war of good vs. evil on Earth. Superbly acted & very well done. What could have been an extremely complicated and cofusing plot was handled very well in an organized fashion. The gore wasn't great, but the cool story kinda made up for it. All in all, I was entertained quite a bit by this one...

most of the criticizm i heard was aimed at it being a big ego trip ..
i couldnt care less myself if it was .. it was still funny and clever.

i read a bit about the filming of hudson hawk .. and it sounded rediculous.
i think it was a troubled shoot - very aimless and disjointed - and it showed in the final result.

Last Action Hero was very tight and purposeful ... Sure it tried to cram a lot in but i thought everything (except the weak overdone nod to ET) was a lot of fun.

Apocalypto. If Mel Gibson ever decides to do a horror movie, we're in for a hell of a gorefest!
