I have to go with Ritualistic I think both are excellent writers and directors. I cant pick one. Both have great movies and upsets. So think that it would be a tie.

For once I am gonna have to pick Craven. I like more films by him than I do by Carpenter. Carpenter's only success was Halloween.

Both huge influences in the genre but I'm going to pick Carpenter b/c he has consistently been great. Wes has been hit or miss for a long time.

why?

why is this even a question??
Both carpenter and craven are great, but if you look at the majority of their films, their styles are both like, really different, I can't even find many fair points on which to compare them.
I like 'em both.
Put it this way, Lets say the choice was as follows - If you chose one of them as your favourite, all of the films by the other would be erased from existence, and you'd never get to see 'em....how many of you would then chose your favourite?
I don't think many of you would want to make that choice, as you know that they have both (despite a few bad films on both their parts) provided us with some excellent movies and scares over the years.
Enough with the comparison already!!!;)
