52 PICK UP (1986). Mean spirited and foolish drama of Big Shot Roy Scheider, who despite being very successful and married to Ann-Margret
 , decides for whatever reason to play footsie with Kelley Preston (attractive, but I think she improved as she aged) and ends up dealing with a trio of lowlifes. Some good performances, especially by scary Clarence Williams 111 ( TALES FROM THE HOOD and Linc from TV's THE MOD SQUAD) and Vanity isn't bad either, but just drags and when I start watching the timer to see how much longer there is to go, not a good sign. **

Have heard how bad this is for years, but actually found this quite enjoyable albeit silly and also noticed that 1979's LOVE AT FIRST BITE has a lot of the same plot twists. Dracula (played by a slumming David Niven) has fallen on hard times financially and has to give tours in his castle. A group of PLAYBOY models visits and Drac hopes some blood from them can revive his long dead wife. It does indeed, but one of the models is black and as a result, Vampira comes back as lovely Teresa Graves (from LAUGH-IN and GET CHRISTIE LOVE!). Can the Count return her to her normal appearance? Am sure a lot of people would see racism in that, but to Me, it seems like Drac just wants the appearance he's accustomed to, similar to LAFB when George Hamilton is disappointed in how the woman who looks like his former love is a total party animal. Aside from Teresa, many lovelies like Linda Hayden (TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA, MADHOUSE), Veronica Carlson (DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, one of her last roles), Jennie Linden (Hammer's NIGHTMARE), Andrea Allan and Catherine Shirriff . Captures the flavor of early 70's London and even includes a trip to a PLAYBOY club with photos of past Playmates Janice Pennington (1971, later on THE PRICE IS RIGHT) and Marilyn Cole. ***

BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980). This STAR WARS/THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN hybrid is quite goofy with a lot of scenes that You probably saw in SW/STAR TREK (and some parts had Me convinced the creators of RED DWARF liked this), but is a lot of fun. Villanous John Saxon (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, ENTER THE DRAGON) threatens to destroy a peaceful planet, so a young lad (Richard Thomas from THE WALTON'S
 ) sets out to find some professional fighters to help aid the inhabitants. This has a great cast; George Peppard (THE A TEAM), Darlene Fluegel (TOUGH GUYS), Robert Vaughn (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, THE MAN FROM UNCLE), Sam Jaffee (GUNGA DIN, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL), Jeff Corey (LADY IN A CAGE), Marta Kristen (TERMINAL ISLAND, TV's LOST IN SPACE) and Sybil Danning, whose costume defies the laws of gravity and nature.Some early work for James Cameron, Gale Ann Hurd, James Horner and Bill Paxton, who aided on carpentry/painting. ***
