David Fincher's The Goon
July 3, 2008
David Fincher is set to turn his eye to Dark Horse's cult comic 'The Goon', with the Fight Club director on production duties for a CG-animated adaptation. He is teaming up with animation house Blur Studios for the project, which follows the adventures of a muscle-bound brawler who claims he is an enforcer for the mob. Apparently, the comics have paranormal and humorous elements, featuring "ghosts, zombies, mad scientists and 'skunk apes'". Eric Powell, who created the comic back in 1999, will write the screenplay for the film, which will be developed by Dark Horse's own movie production team before being sold to a major studio. Blur Studios won an Oscar nomination for their short film Gopher Broke, with The Goon being their first feature-length effort.
