Horror Comedy Books - Any suggestions?

I'm looking for something a bit light to read. Not "light" as in "easy" per se, but something with a bit of humor in it...

I'm a huge fan of Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series (have read the first one a few times) and I am also a fan of the self-deprecating pseudo-autobiographical writings of David Sedaris. Both of these men are absolute wordsmiths who are able to weave humor into series subject matter (well, in Adams' case, it's more just a damn good scifi story - not sure if I'd pin him as "serious" though).

In the realm of fantasy I've tried Terry Pratchett, but have only gotten through the first Discworld book; it was pitched to me as the Douglas Adams of fantasy, but I found it more fantasy than comedy... And just silly and not as intellectual.

But enough rambling.

Are there any well-written erudite horror comedy writers out there? Something smart, funny and gory at the same time? Does horror comedy even exist as a form of literature? Any suggestions?

Thank you for your recommendations in advance. :)
