Here's a quote from producer Davin Allen about the sequel:

"All I can tell you is that it picks up right at the end of the first film and we will have some Americans in it. And it is still being made as a theatrical film, we did sell the first film around the world theatrically, but of course, America did not think that America wanted to see another British film. We will have a bigger budget and be shooting in Luxembourg again. We hope to get the studios here interested in showing it theatrically. We hope once we do the sequel to go back and do a prequel as well."

And here's some more:

This storyline is a vast departure from Marshal's original blueprint for the next two films. Initially, he hoped to pit McKidd (Cooper) against new "classic monsters" in each film with the second installment about a "haven" of vampires and the third about "Frankenstein-like zombies." Thanks to the Hugh Jackman-starring Van Helsing those plans will never see fruition.

In other Marshal news, his latest script, Outpost, is working distributors in a frenzy. This film, which was, again, anticipated as the third Dog Soldiers chapter, finds the crew of an ocean oil rig battling fifty "speedy, blood hungry, balls-to-the-wall" zombies. The script for this one is going to be completed shortly.

So they are definitely doing the zombie flick, there is no mention of the vampire one though.
