Operazione Paura/Kill Baby Kill (1966)

Italian horror directed by maestro Mario Bava. Set in a Capathian village and full of the old cliches of the genre though it was influential and seminal movies like this that made such things cliches in the first place- the template was set here and in some ways never has been beaten. This film is full of lavish gothic-like set pieces in and around the curse-stricken village. The performances are very strong, the characters are likeable and though the plot is well-trodden nowadays, back then people hadn't seen it's like before. Well done Bava on creating this classic. Essential viewing for Italian horror fans.
