I must have seen this movie twenty or more times by now and i never get tired of watching it. The characters are well done and seem real and you really care about them as the movie goes on especially little Carol Anne.
The suspense is great slowly building up instead of forcing its way into every scene. (See the Remake for this)
It doesn't try to hard yet is filled with different unique scares and is probably the reason why i love the fake out ending where you think everything is going to be okay and of course it's not.

Easily one of the best horror films of all-time. The clown scene is still one of the scariest scenes.
Likely one of the few times two directors (Hooper/Spielberg) came together like chocolate and peanut butter. It totally worked.
What do you all think of the (possible) background symbolism? The evil force comes from the TV to seduce and take your children... Not literally take your child, take their mind/soul... They put the TV out at the end...
