The story centres on Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), a teen in a post-apocalyptic future who hunts to supplement her mother and sister's meagre rations along with her friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth). When her sister is chosen for the Hunger Games, an annual contest to the death that keeps the outlying (and potentially rebellious) Districts under the control of the technologically advance Capitol, Katniss takes her place - and faces 23 other teenagers in a fight to the last survivor.

THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following.
