BLACULA (1972). The typical AIP wackiness is prevalent in here, but stick with it and You'll find it's a lot better than You would expect. Wonderful performance by William Marshall with decent support by Vonetta McGee. Also a short turn by Elisha Cook JR, one of my favorites who meets a bad end in here, like he always seemed to in all of his movies.
A really good opener with one of the best most evil Dracula's ever-Charles MacCually had NIGHTMARE raving about it-and some pretty good scenes-especially involving Ketty Lester. Her second/third scenes scared the BeJesus out of me the first time I saw this.
Despite the fact the film descends into DARK SHADOWS territory with the plot, still worth seeing. Also a few songs by The Hues Corporation who had a number #1 single a few years down the road! ***1/2
