Actually, I would say there is hypnotism in the film, it's just not the Hollywood "watch this swinging pendant", or the 'lay on the couch with a psychiatrist' type. It's drug induced suggestion, and "conscience" suggestion targeting the subconscious, by the voodoo dude.

I'm split on it, honestly. While you definitely make a valid argument to the contrary, I still feel that it doesn't actually count as hypnotism. It's more like an accurate portrayal of what the real zombie process is like ( i.e. Drugging, psychologically traumatizing, and burying/digging up a person ). That's not technically hypnotism, more like reconditioning/mentally breaking a person. Like I said, it's up for interpretation, but I still stick by my previous statement .
