Wonderful little gem of British Cinema - the story of a born-deaf girl living in post-war Britain. Some great acting, particularly from the titular character whose pained and confused expressions really do evoke sympathy as the adults around her try to teach her to speak. A few plotlines left unresolved and some questionable character motivations, it's still a wonderful tale.
