The first teaser trailer to Matt Reeves’ Let Me In has just leaked on YouTube, giving us our first look at this Hollywood remake of Tomas Alfredson’s Swedish vampire drama, Let The Right One In.

Given that the original was Empire’s film of 2009, it was with a certain degree of trepidation that we set eyes on the English language reworking – after all, it wouldn’t be the first time a film didn't survived the transition.

However, if the teaser here is anything to go by, Reeves has done fans of the original (and John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel) proud. The footage shows a remarkably faithful translation of the film (virtually shot-for-shot in some cases), perfectly capturing the bleakness of Alfredson’s vision.

Remake detractors may turn their self-righteous noses up at the the need to rework foreign language classics for the Anglophone masses but this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Reeves has kept things pretty similar, despite moving the locale to New Mexico. Owen (Kodi Smith-McPhee, looking as shell-shocked as he did in The Road) is a bullied youngster who becomes fast friends with his new neighbor (Moretz), only to realize that she’s a vampire. “I need blood,” and all. And cue vampire action and jump scares!
