The Fallen Idol (1948)
Carol Reed (
The Third Man) directs this Hitchcockian thriller with delicate hands and a careful eye, hiding chilling treasures in rewarding places. Told through the eyes of a child, a murder-mystery unfolds with strange realism in a setting where the actual murder is the least of the issues and begins to unpeel the innocence of a young boy as he is taught lessons of imperfection and horror in forceful precision.
Highly recommended.
