Vampyr – Der Traum des Allan Grey (1932)
French-German horror filmed during the awkward transition from silent movies to "talkies". This film is one of my all time favourites and I still find it effectively creepy even when viewed today. It was based on a story in Sheridan Le Fanu's "In A Glass Darkly" and I love it more than any Dracula or Nosferatu (again I do love these but my personal preference is this). The disorientating visual effects are still wondrous and if you devote your time and patience to it-it is a richly rewarding viewing experience :)
