Shark Attack 2: Scene Breakdown Help

Refer to this video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbd-r8tdQkg&t=32s

I am trying to write a scene-by-scene breakdown of the attack sequences in this movie and have difficulty with the scene linked above, especially from 3:07 to 3:31.

I don't understand the sequence of events between the two times. It looks like Hootie (the diver) falls backward against the bars of the cage. There's obviously a gap there but a small one. Then he just falls out? Pierson (the other diver) grabs his legs and tries to hold him in. Hootie tries to cling on to the outside of the cage. The next part just stumped me. He just swims into the gaping jaw of a shark?

If someone understands what's happening here please comment! Cheers!
