Happy Halloween...The Hammer House Of Babes...

Ok, I am pretty sure most of the members of this forum are very familiar with the Hammer films and for you guys, enjoy the eye candy. But if you are new to the classic Hammer films, this is sort of a primer to the more interesting ones, or at least the Hammer ladies in them.

When most people think of Hammer Horror films they usually come up with this guy...

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5421/a101tn2.jpg

And they would be correct. Hammer Studios (UK) did make their name with remakes of the Universal Horror classics such as Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy starting in the late 1950s.

But if you're just not a horror film fan you may think you've never seen a Hammer film. Well you would probably be wrong. In addition to monsters Hammer specialized in BABES.

Did you like Raquel Welch in "One Million Years B.C." (1966)? Guess what? Hammer studios.

And she wasn't the only major babe to get her start in a Hammer movie.

If you like Ursula Andress you will want to track down a copy of "She" (1965) which was one of her first films.

But what Hammer studios really excels at is Gothic Horror films WITH major babes. And it's hard to beat that combo. And the films with the most Gothic Horror and major babes are probably the literally dozens of Hammer vampire movies.

The first of which was "Dracula" (1958)

Ok, I know what your thinking...you've seen hotter right? Well yeah but keep in mind this was 1958 and she is pretty hot for 1958. And these films stick to a pretty reliable formula. Some chick in a nightie is telling you how scared she is, etc. So you comfort her, and the next thing you know...

You got one of these on your hands.

The next notable Hammer vampire film is "The Brides of Dracula" (1960) and it features this cute little chicky snack.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9605/a111jw2.jpg

Even the dead chicks are kinda hot.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3086/a112gh8.jpg

And the undead ones make eternal damnation look...well not terribly bad.

Now the Dracula sequels are many and I'm gonna skip some to concentrate on the babes.

One of the first babes was Veronica Carlson seen here in "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave" (1968).

Barbara Ewing isn't in quite the same class but does her best to entertain as a busty barmaid.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/927/a118uw3.jpg

One of the first serious babes was Gwen Watford in "Taste the Blood of Dracula" (1970).

Somehow incredibly cute doesn't begin to do her justice.

Throw in some gratuitous brothel shots and a vampire and you have yourself a movie.

And the babes just keep coming like Jenny Hanley seen here in "Scars Of Dracula" (1970).

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5606/a116wf3.jpg

But the babes weren't all vampires and vampire victims. Sometimes it was werewolves. And "The Curse of the Werewolf" (1961) had some babes.

Starting with Josephine Llewellyn.

But the standout was Yvonne Romain.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5541/a125mv6.jpg

But getting back to the vamps. It was in the 1970s that things got interesting. And one of the reasons was Ingrid Pitt seen in films like "Countess Dracula" (1971).

And you could always count on Hammer to throw in a top heavy chambermaid.

But it was Ingrid who stole the show. Not in a classical vampire role but in a historical one about a woman who bathed in virgin blood to retain her youth.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7074/a128by8.jpg

But Ingrid was best known for starring in the first of a trilogy of what many consider the best Hammer films ever made. The Karnstein Trilogy which began with "The Vampire Lovers"(1970).

And Scandinavian looking blonds were the order of the day.

Everythings fine until your crucifix accidentally brushes up against heaving cleavage.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4392/a130tc3.jpg

Then you get one of these.

But it was Ingrid and Madeline Smith who made the biggest impression. Pippa Steel wasn't bad either.

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3937/a132eb1.jpg

And Ingrid played the perfect, not just a vampire...but a lesbian vampire, Mircalla Karnstein.

Easily one of my favorite Hammer films.

The next installment of the Karnstein Trilogy is "Lust for a Vampire" (1971). And again blonds feature prominently.
