What the hell?

Why did the latest thread about where to get free movies get locked now?

No one's flaming.

Is there some unspoken rule here that neverending just gets to have the last word on everything?

Seriously, what the hell?

bwind22 01-14-2009 10:45 PM

By the way, no offense NE, I know you're not the one locking them down.

I just noticed. Going over to read it.

I assumed you were probably the one that locked it since you're usually the only mod on this late at night, but then again I would also assume that you would have probably posted your reason for doing so if you had (like you have in the past), so I'm left scratching my head. Any ideas who locked it or why?

Look- you can't see or hear diddly squat from the internet till your computer DOWNLOADS it from a remote server to your computer. No web pages, pictures, audio or video. NOTHING. Temp files are called temp files for a simple reason- they're TEMPORARY. They're discarded and deleted on a regular basis. With streaming media this happens in a rapid succession- but saying the downloading isn't happening because you can't find the temp files is like saying the garbage you threw out last week never existed because you can't find it any more.
I was about to post on it that this is what I meant..

And I agree bwind22 - it seemed to be a civil thread and people talking liek adults to each other.

And I was just getting ready to throw my two cents in.

hellfire1 01-15-2009 01:26 AM

Oh.... another one?? When posts aren't deleted altogether, threads get locked up. 'Tis the lay of the land now. People on power trips suck, don't they??

i do remember a rule from some time ago that discussing pirating was a no no.

a few of us - myself included made some admissions to that effect .. this might be the reason.

ManchestrMorgue 01-15-2009 02:38 AM

I can understand the site not wanting to promote piracy, but there are ways to discuss it.

I mean, obviously posting direct links to pirated material is not tolerated on many internet forums. Teaching people to pirate would be similarly shaky ground.

But discussing the issues of piracy (pros and cons, moral vs legal etc) can be done in such a way that it won't get the site into hot water.

I too had typed up a long response to the other thread, and when I tried to submit, it was locked

Obvious answer here.
No matter how back and forth it was about and around the piracy issue, the majority of the thread was pro-piracy...and people saying "we don't care because we don't think we'll be caught". This site so much as making unedited mention of other sites of this kind, is a liability thing IMO, no matter how small.
I don't think it's an issue to really call out the moderation on all that much...
Like said at first, anyone who feels a need to hit up the site being spoken of, knows who to pm, and it ought to just be left at that.
